Privacy Policy
What we collect
Nothing about you. We don't have a server that knows who you are. We don't have user accounts. We can't see what you photograph, where you point the camera, what filters you use, or how long you spend in the app.
What stays on your device
- Captured photos and videos save to your iOS Photos library, governed by Apple's Photos privacy controls. You can revoke our save permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy → Photos → Real Night Vision Camera.
- Capture history (a list of asset identifiers for the items you've taken with the app) lives in the app's local sandbox. Clearing app data or uninstalling deletes it.
- App preferences (filter mode, sensitivity, mirror toggle, audio toggle, language picker, screenshot/dev mode flags) are stored in iOS UserDefaults — local to the device, included in iCloud device backups under Apple's standard encryption.
Camera, microphone, photo-library access
- Camera — required to render the live preview and apply filters/real-sensor modes. We do not record or transmit camera frames; they're processed on-device through Metal shaders and discarded once a new frame replaces them.
- Microphone — only used while you're recording video, and only if you have the "Record audio with videos" Settings toggle on. The audio is multiplexed into the recorded MP4 saved to your Photos library, then released. Disable the toggle to capture silent video.
- Photo Library (Add-Only) — required to save the photos and videos you capture. We do not browse, read, or upload your existing library.
- Photo Library (Read) — only requested when you tap the gallery picker to apply a filter to an existing photo or video. The chosen item is processed on-device and saved as a new asset.
- LiDAR / TrueDepth camera — used only for the LiDAR Depth and TrueDepth IR modes. Depth frames stay on-device.
- Magnetometer — used for the magnetic-field meter HUD. Readings are displayed live and never persisted or transmitted.
Network requests we DO make
- Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchase and restore-purchases flows. Apple controls this; we don't see your payment details.
- Adapty (adapty.io/privacy) — server-side receipt validation so Pro entitlements work cross-device using the same Apple ID. Adapty receives your encrypted Apple receipt; it does not receive personally identifying data from us.
That's the entire outbound network footprint. No third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Segment, no Sentry crash reporting, no Adjust/AppsFlyer attribution). You can verify by inspecting our binary at App Store.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and safe for any age. Because we collect no personal data of any kind, we don't process children's data either. We comply with Apple's Kids Category guidelines even though we're not in the Kids Category.
International users (GDPR / CCPA / others)
We don't process personal data, so the lawful-basis, data-subject-access-request, opt-out, and "do not sell" mechanics required by GDPR / CCPA / similar regimes don't apply: there is no data on us about you to access, port, correct, or delete. Your captured media is governed by Apple's privacy controls on your device.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Same answer — we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes (for example: we add a new feature that requires a new permission), we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes are also called out in the App Store "What's New" notes for the relevant release.
